Franklin County Agency for Substance Abuse Policy

Kentucky Family Resource and Youth Services Centers

Franklin County Schools offer support to students and families through the FRYSC program. The main goal of a FRYSC is to remove non-academic barriers to learning as a means to enhance student academic success. FRYSCs collaborate in the community to promote physical and mental health for families and students as well as opportunities for families to learn together in safe environments.

These school-based centers are designed to bring together community resources to help break down barriers to learning which in turn should enhance students’ ability to succeed in school. Family Resource Centers serve children from birth through twelve years of age.

FRCs are funded through a grant administered by the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services, provided by state education funds through the Kentucky Department of Education.

Each center has a unique blend of program components depending on location, available services, local need and community input.

FRYSCs help with…

  • Preschool child care
  • After-school child day care
  • Family literacy services
  • Health services and referrals
  • Career exploration and development for youth
  • Summer and part-time job development (high school only)
  • Substance abuse education and counseling
  • Family crisis and mental health counseling
